FOR THOSE READY TO REMEMBER WHAT REST, BELONGING, AND REVITALIZATION FEEL LIKE — IN RHYTHM WITH WILD NATURE AND LIVING CULTURE.
April 28 – May 4, 2026 | Guided by Mandolin Badger & Gigi DeMasi
Free · Warm · No pressure — We’ll check in to see if this experience aligns with your travel intentions.
Imagine this…
You wake to sounds of toucans and monkeys echoing through the rainforest — a spark of wildness stirs inside you too: a remembering. Soft pink light spills across the ridgeline, where snow-capped peaks rise to your left and turquoise Caribbean waters shimmer far below.
Morning begins slow. You step onto the terrace, cup of cacao in hand, and see a giant blue butterfly land beside you. Your bare feet press into cool earth. Laughter drifts through the palms. The world hums alive around you — reminding you that you belong to it. You breathe deep, and your whole system begins to reset.
What guests often describe isn’t just relaxation.
it’s reconnection.
A remembering of rhythm, ritual, and relationship to life.
“This experience gave me everything I wanted and more. A year later, tears of gratitude still rise when I ‘m making limón de coco like we did there. Tiny rituals that keep the connection alive. Over the week I felt more and more connected to myself, the group and the nature around us. It was the most powerful travel experience of my life.” - Amy Blackwell

explore masaya
Your journey begins the moment you land in Santa Marta — a vibrant coastal city where the Caribbean meets the mountains. A friendly driver greets you at the airport with a warm smile and a sign in your name. We’ll already be connected on WhatsApp, so everything feels easy and personal from the start.
You’ll spend your first night at Masaya, a locally owned boutique hotel and cultural hub just a few blocks from the sea. It’s the perfect place to ground after travel — with salsa dancing, two pools, beautiful rooms, and fresh local food served in their open-air restaurant. The staff knows us and will welcome you like family.
It’s a soft landing — a gentle way to arrive, stretch, and breathe in the ocean air before we head into the mountains together.
explore la poema
a sanctuary in the heart of the universe
The next morning, we journey inland — leaving the sea behind and winding up the mountain roads toward the Sierra Nevada, where sacred peaks rise into the clouds.
This is La Poema, a regenerative retreat sanctuary stewarded by a local family I’ve been friends with for years — a home where life moves in rhythm with nature, music, and care.
From the moment you arrive, you feel the stress leaving your body. Parrots swoop between fruit trees. The ocean glimmers far below. And somewhere inside you exhales, whispering, “Finally.”
You’ll sleep in eco-huts built in partnership with Kogi elders — circular homes made from natural materials that honor the elements. Inside is simple and grounding — palm walls, soft light, cozy beds, breathtaking views, and the deep comfort of sleeping close to others again, as humans always have.
Every detail is crafted to nourish your nervous system — open-air showers that look out over the jungle and sea, glacial water flowing from the peaks above, composting toilets so clean and beautiful you almost forget what they are.
At the center of the property stands a spiraling temple built with the Kogi — a symbol of balance between mountain, ocean, and sky. This is where we gather for yoga, sound, movement, and ceremony — held by the hum of the rainforest and the heartbeat of the land.
To be at La Poema is to remember what it means to belong — to yourself, to community, and to the living world that knows how to care for you.
Nourishment & Food
La Poema Cuisine
Every meal at La Poema is handmade with ingredients grown right on the land — papaya, mango, cacao, plantains, herbs, and vegetables gathered that morning. You’ll eat under the palms, family-style, with views of the sea.
The food here feels like medicine and tastes like celebration — colorful, nourishing, and prepared with so much love. Meals are crafted to support energy, digestion, and sensory pleasure so you leave the table feeling grounded, light, and fully alive.
