Imagine this…

You wake to sounds of toucans and monkeys echoing through the rainforest — a spark of wildness stirs inside you too: a remembering. Soft pink light spills across the ridgeline, where snow-capped peaks rise to your left and turquoise Caribbean waters shimmer far below.

Morning begins slow. You step onto the terrace, cup of cacao in hand, and see a giant blue butterfly land beside you. Your bare feet press into cool earth. Laughter drifts through the palms. The world hums alive around you — reminding you that you belong to it. You breathe deep, and your whole system begins to reset.

What guests often describe isn’t just relaxation.

it’s reconnection.

A remembering of rhythm, ritual, and relationship to life.

“This experience gave me everything I wanted and more. A year later, tears of gratitude still rise when I ‘m making limón de coco like we did there. Tiny rituals that keep the connection alive. Over the week I felt more and more connected to myself, the group and the nature around us. It was the most powerful travel experience of my life.” - Amy Blackwell

is this you?…

  • You want to be treated and taken care of — to simply arrive, soften, and receive.

  • You crave rest, awe, and genuine connection in a world that’s constantly pushing more.

  • you long to gather in circle for yoga, breath, EXPRESSION, music and sharing our hearts.

  • you’re curious to experience other cultures and learn more about yourself.

  • You’re ready to be nourished and reawakened — to feel balance returning to your body, your breath, and your days

explore masaya

Your journey begins the moment you land in Santa Marta — a vibrant coastal city where the Caribbean meets the mountains. A friendly driver greets you at the airport with a warm smile and a sign in your name. We’ll already be connected on WhatsApp, so everything feels easy and personal from the start.

You’ll spend your first night at Masaya, a locally owned boutique hotel and cultural hub just a few blocks from the sea. It’s the perfect place to ground after travel — with salsa dancing, two pools, beautiful rooms, and fresh local food served in their open-air restaurant. The staff knows us and will welcome you like family.

It’s a soft landing — a gentle way to arrive, stretch, and breathe in the ocean air before we head into the mountains together.

explore la poema

a sanctuary in the heart of the universe

The next morning, we journey inland — leaving the sea behind and winding up the mountain roads toward the Sierra Nevada, where sacred peaks rise into the clouds.

This is La Poema, a regenerative retreat sanctuary stewarded by a local family I’ve been friends with for years — a home where life moves in rhythm with nature, music, and care.

From the moment you arrive, you feel the stress leaving your body. Parrots swoop between fruit trees. The ocean glimmers far below. And somewhere inside you exhales, whispering, “Finally.”

You’ll sleep in eco-huts built in partnership with Kogi elders — circular homes made from natural materials that honor the elements. Inside is simple and grounding — palm walls, soft light, cozy beds, breathtaking views, and the deep comfort of sleeping close to others again, as humans always have.

Every detail is crafted to nourish your nervous system — open-air showers that look out over the jungle and sea, glacial water flowing from the peaks above, composting toilets so clean and beautiful you almost forget what they are.

At the center of the property stands a spiraling temple built with the Kogi — a symbol of balance between mountain, ocean, and sky. This is where we gather for yoga, sound, movement, and ceremony — held by the hum of the rainforest and the heartbeat of the land.

To be at La Poema is to remember what it means to belong — to yourself, to community, and to the living world that knows how to care for you.

Nourishment & Food

La Poema Cuisine

Every meal at La Poema is handmade with ingredients grown right on the land — papaya, mango, cacao, plantains, herbs, and vegetables gathered that morning. You’ll eat under the palms, family-style, with views of the sea.

The food here feels like medicine and tastes like celebration — colorful, nourishing, and prepared with so much love. Meals are crafted to support energy, digestion, and sensory pleasure so you leave the table feeling grounded, light, and fully alive.

WHAT MAKES nourish RETREAT A once in a lifetime EXPERIENCE?

from the moment we collect you at the airport, until your private car drops you back off, everything is handled for you in an above and beyond manner.

On NOURISH retreat, you have the responsibility of an 8 year old, with a team inviting you into a new world. One of our local drivers will welcome you at the airport and escort you to our retreat center. From there, your only job is to enjoy and give your adulting a break.

nourish was co-created with locals + Indigenous elders to ensure sustainability & respect for the land and ITS people.

Meet Haba Teresa, who is a Matriarchal Mamo (healer) for the local Kogi Tribe. Spanish is both our second language and our relationship was built over many years while I lived with a local woman on land sacred to her people. I have learned over time how to offer these retreats only with guidance from mentors like her.

nourish your nervous system with a week living inside a SACRED NATURE vortex

Every piece of your experience in intentionally planned out to balance your nervous system and allow you to feel safe, present and whole in your body. Our home for retreat is known as ‘The Heart Of The Universe’ to Indigenous People. Nestled in the the tallest coastal mountains on earth, we can see Carribean seas and snow peaks from our retreat center. The air smells like mangoes, the jungle is alive with parrots and monkeys, and the air is so clean you will never want to leave. There are 15 ecosystems on this one mountain! There are more endemic (from here and only here) plants and animals per capita than anywhere else on Earth! Just coming and staying in this Nature alone is life changing.

sacred ceremony + circle with the most closed indigenous tribe in south america

You are one of a handful of people ever allowed into a cleansing, blessing, and welcoming ceremony with the oldest and most culturally closed Indigenous Tribe in South America. The Kogi’s consider themselves guardians of Nature and are powerful wisdom keepers. As an addition, you will be able to ask questions of elders in circle post ceremony. You will also have the opportunity to book a private healing session with Haba Teresa, the powerful medicine woman pictured above. This experience is an incredible honor and we appreciate the opportunity.

All the best local secrets

By choosing this retreat you are given access to all the best local secrets that you can not book or find online. Just like anywhere, the big tourist traps are worth checking out but they aren’t what makes a place truly special. It’s the hole in the wall restaurants that will blow your mind, the secret waterfalls only a few locals know of, or the old witchy woman in the jungle whose healing massage feels like a spiritual experience. These are just a few of the experiences that await you in this paradise.

Your ticket donates $100 to support a local school and THE INDIGENOUS KOGI people.

We give in gratitude and exchange for all that we receive from the people and land here. The school we support was started by a good friend of mine in the home I lived in for 4 years. This school offers Montessori classes to local children for free. The Kogi Tribe are the amazing Indigenous elders we learn and receive from on retreat. You will see and experience first hand where your donation goes and the impact it makes.
